I've identified seven match ups this Tuesday that have the betting underdog rate favorably on the Triple Trend Formula (TTF).
7:07pm: Red Sox +135 LH Brian Johnson (NF) vs. Blue Jays -150 RH Marcus Stroman (1-1, 1.76 ERA)
Boston (8-5) had to scratch scheduled starter Eduardo Rodriguez (paternity). Toronto (2-10) sends Stroman to the mound and he has been exceptional. However, the Blue Jays simply don't score. BOS gets a +0.063 TTF match up rating here. One unit.
7:10pm: Phillies +146 RH Zach Eflin (2016: 3-5, 5.54 ERA) vs. Mets -162 RH Zack Wheeler (1-1, 7.45)
Philadelphia (4-8) has lost 5 of 6 heading into tonight's game. New York (7-6) has lost 3 straight. Mets LF Yeonis Cespedes has 6 homers. PHI gets a slight +0.046 TTF edge for this matchup. One unit.
7:10pm: Orioles -173 RH Ubaldo Jimenez (0-0, 10.38 ERA) vs. Reds +156 RH Bronson Arroyo (0-2, 9.90)
8-3 Baltimore hopes struggling Jimenez can provide a better performance than he has in his first 2 starts. The 8-5 Reds are thinking the same with regards to their starter Arroyo. A big bullpen advantage gives CIN a +1.172 TTF match up rating here. One unit.
8:05pm: Brewers +153 RH Jimmy Nelson (1-0, 1.38 ERA) vs. Cubs -170 LH Brett Anderson (1-0, 0.84)
Milwaukee (8-6) won Monday's series opener at Wrigley to run their road record to 6-1. The 6-7 Cubs have lost 4 straight and are just 2-5 at home. MIL gets a +0.316 TTF advantage for this one. One unit.
8:10pm: Indians -113 RH Josh Tomlin (0-2, 18.47 ERA) vs. Twins +103 RH Phil Hughes (2-0, 3.86)
Cleveland (6-7) is hoping that Tomlin rebounds from two horrendous starts. Minnesota (7-6) has lost their last two, including last night's series opener, 3-1. They'll turn to Hughes tonight, who has won both starts and sports a respectable 1.11 WHIP. One unit on MIN with a +1.857 TTF match up advantage.
8:10pm: Angels +126 RH Ricky Nolasco (0-2, 5.40 ERA) vs. Astros -139 RH Joe Musgrove (1-0, 4.35)
The Angels (6-8) are suffering through a 6 game losing streak. 9-4 Houston, however, has won 5 straight. Nolasco is 6-1 lifetime vs. the Astros, so that, along with a slight +0.198 TTF rating is enough for a one unit play.
8:15pm: Giants +112 RH Matt Cain (1-0, 4.82 ERA) vs. Royals -123 RH Jason Hammel (0-1, 6.52)
Buster Posey is expected to play for San Francisco (5-9) for the first time since April 10 (hit in head). Kansas City (6-6) has won 4 in a row. Despite KC's streak, it looks like a good spot to back SF with a +0.651 TTF match up advantage. One unit.
Good luck, players!
