So, a solid 7-4 to start the NCAAF season as the Calculated Relative Spread (CRS) formula is firing on all cylinders out of the gate in 2018. Heading into week 2, I have just three matchups that warrant a recommendation, but I want to emphasize that they are all full, three-unit plays.
7:00pm: CLEMSON VS. TEXAS A&M
CRS spread: Texas A&M -0.8
PICK: TEXAS A&M +12.5 (-110)
RISK: 3 UNITS
This is simply too many points to lay with the Aggies at home. Jimbo Fisher and Dabo Swinney split 8 games when Fisher was at Florida State. I see this one as close. A&M RB Trayveon Williams won't run for 240 yards like he did vs. Northwestern State in the opener, but he should be able to move the ball, even against Clemson's vaunted D-line.
8:00pm: PENN STATE VS. PITTSBURGH
CRS spread: Pitt -17.7
PICK: PITTSBURGH +9 (-110)
RISK: 3 UNITS
I see the Panthers winning outright here under coach Pat Narduzzi, James Franklin's Nittany Lions squad nearly lost Saturday to FCS Appalachian St. and will find the step up in class to catch up with them here.
10:45pm: MICHIGAN STATE VS. ARIZONA STATE
CRS spread: Arizona State -7.5
PICK: ARIZONA STATE +6.5 (-110)
RISK: 3 UNITS
Another one where I see the dog winning outright. Herm Edwards has built a solid defense in Tempe and Mark Dantonio's squad will be reeling as they go on the road for a Saturday night contest.
Good luck, players!
