6:30pm - New England PK vs. Seattle O/U 47.5
The Patriots (14-4) have beaten the Ravens 35-31 and Colts 45-7 in these playoffs so far. This will be the 6th Super Bowl for Brady and Belichik so I expect them to be prepared and ready to play at a high level. As good as the Pat's offense is, the defense was spectacular in limiting QB Andrew Luck and the Colts to just 7 points. CB's Darrelle Revis and Brandon Browner stack up against any duo in the NFL.
The Seahawks have wins over the Panthers 31-17 and the Packers 28-22 in OT to advance to their 2nd Super Bowl in a row. Seattle's vaunted defense had another great season, but has shown some vulnerability in these playoffs and has some injuries in their secondary - the Legion of Boom - that may be a big factor. Specifically, CB Richard Sherman, S Earl Thomas and S Kam Chancellor, who all will be hurting somewhat entering the game.
With New England scoring 80 points in 2 post season games and Seattle yielding an uncharacteristic 39 in their 2 games, I like the Patriots to be able to score. Likely in the 24 - 31 point range. They'll have to work for it, and RB LeGarrette Blount will have to be productive, but with Brady and weapons like TE Gronkowski and WR Edelman I don't see how they will be held to less than this.
Seattle has put up 59 points in their 2 post season games, but 20 of those came in a wild 5 minute stretch at the end of the AFC championship game. QB Russell Wilson threw 4 interceptions against Green Bay and despite the end of the game heroics, I believe that fact will be on his mind, the Pat's mind, too. Luckily he has RB Marshawn Lynch to hand the ball to who will be counted on to produce yards. If he doesn't, it could be a long day for Seattle.
Winning back to back Super Bowl's is a tall task, but it's been done 8 times. I don't think number 9 comes on Sunday as I see the experience and talent of Brady, Belichik and company to have a plan to take home their 4th Lombardi Trophy. And to execute that plan.
