It's Patriot's Day in Massachusetts and that means late morning baseball in Boston. I've got a TTF-based recommendation on today's game.
11:05am: Rays +122 LH Blake Snell (0-1, 3.18 ERA) vs. Red Sox -135 RH Steven Wright (0-1, 13.50)
Tampa Bay (6-7) is just 1-5 on the road this season. Boston (7-5) sends out knuckleballer Wright this morning. He's been extremely ineffective in two starts this season. TB gets a +0.607 TTF match up rating for this one. One unit.
Update 2:30pm - Eight evening games.
7:05pm: White Sox +133 LH Derek Holland (1-1, 1.50 ERA) vs. Yankees -147 LH Jordan Montgomery (0-0, 3.86)
New York (8-4) has won 7 straight. Chicago (6-5) RF Avail Garcia is batting an MLB best .465. CWS rate +0.458 on the TTF for this match up. One unit.
7:00pm: Pirates +120 RH Ivan Nova (1-1, 2.25 ERA) vs. Cardinals -133 RH Lance Lynn (0-1, 5.23)
St. Louis (3-9) just got swept in three games by the Yankees. Meanwhile, Pittsburgh (6-6) took all three from the Cubs this past weekend. I like the momentum, plus the +0.734 TTF match up rating in favor of PIT. One unit.
7:35pm: Padres +147 RH Jered Weaver (0-1, 4.91 ERA) vs. Braves -163 LH Jaime Garcia (0-1, 5.73)
Atlanta (5-6) has won the first 3 games of this 4 game series and 4 straight overall. San Diego (5-8) is 2-4 so far on this 7 game road trip. Weaver was good enough in his last start to warrant backing here. Also, the TTF give SD a +0.321 advantage. One unit.
8:05pm: Brewers +175 RH Chase Anderson (1-0, 0.69 ERA) vs. Cubs -195 RH John Lackey (1-1, 3.00)
Milwaukee (7-6) is 5-1 on their current road trip. Chicago (6-6) has lost 4 of 5. Brewers 1B Eric Thames ins batting .358 with 6 homers. Good price here on MIL and worth a play with a +0.399 TTF match up rating, I recommend them for a unit.
8:10pm: Indians -155 RH Danny Salazar (0-1, 4.63 ERA) vs. Twins +140 RH Kyle Gibson (0-1, 8.00)
Cleveland (5-7) is 2-7 after a 3-0 start. Minnesota (7-5) is 4-2 at Target Field. A bit of a reach backing Gibson here, but I will with MIN's +0.18 TTF match up rating. One unit.
8:10pm: Angels +128 RH Jesse Chavez (1-1, 5.40 ERA) vs. Astros -142 RH Charlie Morton (0-1, 4.09)
The (6-7) Angels come into this game losers of 5 straight. Houston (8-4) has won 4 in a row. A slight overall pitching edge, along with a +0.367 TTF match up rating gives me reason to back LAA here. One unit.
10:05pm: Rangers +118 RH A.J. Griffin (1-0, 6.75 ERA) vs. Athletics -131 RH Jharel Cotton (1-1, 3.97)
Texas (4-8) was swept this weekend by Seattle. Oakland (5-7) got yesterday off (rainout) after losing 3 straight. A little reach here with TEX, but with a +0.116 TTF matchup rating, I'll back them for a unit.
10:10pm: Marlins +125 RH Tom Koehler (0-0, 3.27 ERA) vs. Mariners -138 LH Ariel Miranda (0-1, 5.06)
Miami (7-5) is feeling pretty good after taking the last 3 games of a 4 game series vs. the Mets this weekend. Seattle (5-8) piled up 3 wins with a weekend sweep of Texas. As long as the Marlins adjust well enough after the cross-country trip, I like them here with a +0.881 advantage. One unit.
Good luck, players!
